Have you gone through bankruptcy, but still have income tax issues hanging over you?
Do you feel you can’t find a solution? We have the solution for you.
Bankruptcy rescues people in a profound way and changes lives. But you cannot cancel recent income taxes—those for the last three years. Such recent taxes never go away and bankruptcy leaves them standing.
Never Ignore the IRS
Always respond to them. The IRS actually takes a practical and pragmatic view when it comes to collecting taxes, especially if you are honest and upfront with them and you have an advocate on your side.
I have been a practicing attorney for more than 30 years, mostly in bankruptcy law. I have dealt with the IRS for decades in a collegial way. I have never had an impossible problem with the IRS. The IRS is much more fair and professional in its dealings than many people assume—and it’s good to deal with fair and competent people.
About Cypress Coast Law
At Clark Miller’s Cypress Coast Law, we offer real solutions to real problems for people. With an advocate on your side, you can obtain a payment plan that you can live with—or even in many cases settle a tax debt for pennies on the dollar. We can’t promise a result, but it’s certainly worth it to make the attempt. And the success rate is very good, and some outcomes can be astonishing. In some cases the IRS will take an incredibly small amount and walk away.
But you need a lawyer who has experience with the IRS. If you don’t have a lawyer, you don’t have a common language with them, and you can get frustrated and wind up walking away. But as the taxes don’t go away, you will have to face it one way or another, and having a lawyer on your side gets you very close to solving your problem.
Offers In Compromise, A Potential Solution
The IRS has a program called “Offers In Compromise” in which they will be willing to work out a payment plan that works for you, or even settling a taxpayer’s liabilities for less than the full amount owed. The program is underutilized, but a very valuable alternative. Especially for folks who have a tax bill that bankruptcy could not discharge. You’re not penalized for trying and it can be more affordable than you think.
If you have a tight budget, or are retired or disabled, and you are not in a position to pay off your tax debt, IRS’s “Offers In Compromise” program may be a perfect fit.
